This book was recommended to be by my clinical manager when I worked for Planned Parenthood. I had given interest in becoming a midwife and she told me I should read it.

I have read others' reviews and agree with both the good and the bad ones. I enjoyed this book, it was an easy read, and it touched me emotionally. It is not the most well written, character developed book, but that doesn't make it a bad book. Although I was raised in the church, I am not a staunch believer or follower of the Bible, so for me, other than that this book takes characters from the Bible and creates a story from them, that is my only comparison to it. I read this book with wanting to learn midwifery details from the olden days in it, the feelings a midwife feels, the strength a midwife needs, etc, and that is what made me love this book. This could be a Lifetime movie and I would watch it.
