At some point you just feel like you have seen/read the same recycled characters and plot over and over and over again-right? Evie wants a normal life but she has to save the whole pesky planet and....nothing. I don't find there ever to be a compelling reason why she should not help. I'm on the side of the psychotic ex-boyfriend faerie for this one. I think by book 3 a character should have some sense of responsibility because they have a special gift (ask Spiderman-he knows). Evie doesn't. So this end to the series is Evie wandering around being self-obsessed saving her boyfriend (doesn't factor into the plot) saving her surrogate mother (doesn't factor into the plot) and other random exploits and then bam-the end.

The end was nice and tidy the way I like my paranormal fiction to be though.
