This is a terrific book. I like reading books that were written many years ago (the 1920s in this case) but that are still "around" and famous, because almost always there is a very good reason they are still being read - they are very good! This book is no exception. It is a moving story about a young Navaho man and the semi-Americanized Navaho woman with whom he falls in love. They experience a culture clash - will their love prevail? Along the way I learned many interesting things about Navaho culture. I always find it very interesting to learn about cultures that may be different from my own. It's a big wonderful world of people we live in and we have so much to learn from people who grew up with different experiences than our own.

Kyra This is kind of like the movie, Gnomio and Juliet.

Maybe Laughing Boy is where the writers of Gnomio and Juliet got some of the ideas for their story!
