This novel is a bit predictable and at times whiney with lots of teen angst. The best part was the final few chapters where his ephiphany and the ways he reconciles his past mistakes is believable. His final act is his lead in The Great Gatsby mirrors his own quest for his dreams which he almost lets slip from his hands much like Jake did. This is an OK book that some teens would relate to even though it got bogged down in the middle.
