This was a different book than I was expecting. Instead of a raunchy exposé on the food industry, I read an often-touching story of one chef's journey in doing what he loves to do: cook. There are points where the excesses of his youth are exposed, and there is the whole "don't order fish on Monday" thing, but that's only a small part of the book. Bourdain has a fantastic writing style that sucks you in, whether he's writing about exploring out of the way restaurants in Tokyo, or how he determines the menu for his restaurant.
