Well, I wasn't as disappointed with this book as I have been with Kingsbury's recent books. Lately they have all been ridiculously corny, unrealistic and just poor quality. This one was still corny, and did have some unnecessary parts that didn't seem to fit with the book, but it had a depth that reminded me of her earlier books. As all the Baxter's come together to celebrate John's 70th birthday, they reminisce on their journeys. Each Baxter sibling gets some spotlight time and Kingsbury summarizes their story. This was a bit overdone, especially considering most of her readers have read all the Baxter books, and the transitions and explanations for the telling of these stories were awkward and unrealistic. That being said, the "tragedy" that happens in this book is extremely sad and the family's reactions were believable.
