I had SERIOUS trouble rating this book. This is really a 3.5, but because I did get along better later in the book, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. If I'd had to rate it 100 pages in I'd have given it a 1. It was chaotic, incoherent, and full of vulgar language at first. It DID improve, though one needs some effort and patience to get past the language, repetition and confusion in the beginning. I did watch fascinated towards the end of the book as the author pulled in one string after another, leaving one left hanging loose so it wouldn't be too perfect. Not an easy read, and much of the discussion of the Holocaust is extremely graphic. Not for the faint of heart. There are rewards if you hang in there, though.
