Another great addition to the Percy Jackson series!
"Sea of Monsters" isn't quite as elaborate as the first book - the adventures are a tad more linear and singular, but that doesn't really detract from what really is a "second installment" of a series. It's pretty obvious by this point that the books will continue for a while, and you aren't expecting the plot to be fully realized, explained, or finished, by the end of this book.
I think Riordan has stayed true to his characters in this second book, and true to the essence of the first. The main plot didn't seem quite as dire as in the first book, but I think it's because it's setting the stage for "what's to come."
So, while I wasn't as enthralled with this book as I was the first, I'm still enthralled with the series and anxious to read the next book.
***
Another airline jump start book. This one I started on the first flight and managed to get about a third of the way through it. We'll see how long I take to finish it now though lol!

Ann - you always read the most interesting books. I'm looking forward to your review for this one. I've marked the first in the series to-read...now, let's see if I can ever get around to it!
Thanks, Chandra:) It's funny, 'cause I really don't think of them as being interesting books lol! I mean, they are interesting to me, yes, but I wouldn't think other people would think so. So thanks, that's nice of you to say that:)
Thanks, that's nice of you!:) Ditto back though! It's so refreshing to find someone else with similar tastes in books! I adore your reviews, too - they are very helpful without giving anything away (thanks!)
Glad you liked it! You will have to discuss it with Tyler! ;-> I will probably get around to this one eventually, but if it wasn't as good as the first then I won't be jumping to put it to the top of my TBR pile since I wasn't an overly-enthusiastic devotee of Book One.
The good thing is that it is a quick read, so that's helpful:) BTW, I've briefly had 0 books on my "currently reading" shelf! :0
I've had 0 books on my "currently reading" shelf too - for much too long. So strange for me! I'm glad you have something on yours again. :)
Lol! That's so funny. I know, it always feels like I have WAY too many books on my shelf (see my shelf now for an example! ;p) and then ZERO! I was shocked! Granted, it didn't last long... but it was tragically refreshing for the few hours it was empty! haha! :D As for your shelf, I think anyone who makes their way through one of the Histories of Middle Earth (much less more than one of them) is more than deserving of a little break! I somehow doubt those are easy reading (even though I'm sure they're wonderful!)
Thanks! You guess right - they are very slow at times, and often hard reading. The break is more due to school however...
Oh that's right... :\ Ew. Well, I can MORE than understand about that! You're probably... what... almost half way done with the semester? Half-way points were always great!! :D
