When an experiment goes terribly wrong, Lord Archer is damaged, body and soul. He retreats from society, hiding behind a full head mask while he searches for a cure. Wherein he meets Miranda and takes her for his own (his wife that is). At first she is reluctant since he is never uncovered and close-mouthed. But she's a firebrand (in more ways than one) and not content to just sit back and let Archer deal with the murder charges and his deformity on his own. Her getting involved pulls them closer together and is the catalyst to a real marriage.

This is a terrific series starter with lots to offer: historical, paranormal, gothic, romance and psychic abilities. And in the next book...werewolves.
