really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, shortstories

Back in the day, I was extremely into de Lint's Newford stories, and this has remained my favorite collection. What I most enjoy about the stories is the solidity of Newford, how the neighborhoods and streets have their own personalities, like a real city would - and the interconnectedness of the stories, so that a side character in one story becomes a main character in another, and they all end up being friends (rather artsy friends, at that). Overall, I prefer de Lint's stories to his novels, and I would recommend this collection the most.
