Three awesome things I learned from this book: Hajji did the makeup for Russ Meyer's movies. Roger Ebert had a scifi fanzine when he was a nerdy high schooler. And Steak and Shake means something better in the Midwest than it does here.

I read this as an Ebert fan, but I think it would work for anybody who likes well written baby boomer memoirs. The chapter about the pleasures of sitting in a cafe in a strange city where you don't know anybody and nobody knows you was especially fantastic.
