Read from January 07 to 14, 2012

A ship carrying a rich literary critic to San Francisco is rammed, and in an attempt to save himself, the critic jumps overboard. He is saved by the notoriously violent captain of a sealing schooner and forced into service as a cabin boy to learn to "stand on [his] own feet" as the captain says. The book was less violent/disgusting than other London texts, but just as fascinating.
