After starting my acqaintance with this author through her second book, I was curious enough to locate this, her first. I wanted to be sure I agreed with Cutrone's worldview thoroughly enough to recommend her hard-nosed advice to my own daughters. And I do. And I am.

So, although her book might be filled with things "your mother never told you," in this case at least it's (mostly) filled with things this mother gives enthusiastic double thumbs-up to. Hard work, truth-telling, female empowerment? Yes, yes and yes. Sexual freedom, untraditional families, iconoclasm? Yep, uh-huh and absolutely.

I read this book willy-nilly, a chapter here and there, so I finished with the chapter in which Donald Trump is mildly thumped, which made the conclusion all the more enjoyable.
