Picking up the new novel by David Sedaris, I expected another cleverly-titled book filled with humorous semi-autobiographical stories. Despite how many he has already released on those subjects, he always seemed to have more and more to tell. So beginning this book I was genuinely surprised to see it was stories about animals, translated into humanistic forms and situations. As I read on, hoping to figure out just what the reason for this novel WAS, I found myself simultaneously disgusted, surprised, and of course, amused by the stories written and the illustrations that accompanied them. Though I wouldn't put it near the top of my favorite Sedaris novels, I would probably recommend it to those who are fans of the authors themselves.
