Pandora's Box (The Road to Hell #1)

I probably should start this review with how I came to buy this book. I read Madison's Life Lessons as an ARC and I absolutely had to know more about the characters and what was happening in their lives. Generally, I have a $5 rule for book downloads. If a book costs more than $5 to down load, but has a real book available, I need to be patient and wait for it to arrive in the mail. That did not happen in this case. I finished Life Lessons and within minutes downloaded and started reading Pandora's Box.
I really enjoyed this book. While you in no way need to read Life Lessons first, I think it made my reading more enjoyable. I loved that I knew how Madison came to be who she was. I also loved that I could not "hate" the bad guy because I knew more about him. That being said, I think I would have most likely loved the book either way.
I'll tell you what I liked about this book:
*Madison is a strong woman and even though she is not perfect, you are wanting the best for her every step of the way.
*She is a mom. Yes, I am a sucker for Moms who kick butt. Plus, he is a pretty powerful kiddo himself :)
*The story does not use "filler". The author is great about saying, "ok, it is time to move forward" and skipping pieces of time that are not needed. I love that. It makes the story more powerful. So often you read books where so many things happen in a week, your head spins.
* Multiple mythologies are blended together beautifully.
*Ok, I admit it, the guys are awesome, even the bad one.
*When I finished the book, I relished in the potential for the rest of the series.
I will definitely be keeping my eye out for the next book in this series. Not only do I "need" to know what happens next, but I also miss the characters.
*This is not a YA book and is not recommended for readers under 18. There are pretty hot adult portions as well as violence.
