I loved this book. It is a murder mystery novel and so much more. The characters are rich and complex and there are twists and turns throughout the book. The mysteries in this book involve three different families at different time periods and the author does a beautiful job of tying everything their stories in with each other. I actually cared about these characters and felt sympathetic toward them. I couldn't put this down and just couldn't wait to see how all of the different families' stories would end and would tie together. The issues in this story lend themselve to examination and questioning by the reader, as pointed out at the back of the book. Although the issues in this book are disturbing, there tends to be alot of humor in it also. The detective, Jackson Brodie, reminds me of a bumbling Columbo of television fame.
