Well as a Nora Roberts, this is a short and okay read. It lacks some of her usual character development and glances on some plot development but doesn't follow through. It has typical romance between two individuals who value strength and independence which leads to hot sex and major misunderstandings - again standard for Roberts. It has a few moments when the ghosts in the plantation under restoration seem to impact the living and the secondary story involving spousal abuse gives more depth to this otherwise quick skim through a developing love story that has more potential than it actually delivers. Maybe the other stories in the series will make-up for this weak first installment.
