I was super lucky to receive this in a Goodreads Giveaway! THANKS!
Maggie, the main character, felt so real. Even though the novel was set in a different era, the characters connect with the reader. The reader is transported right back to the day in the life of a young woman in the 1940's. She is balancing her family ties, friends, romance, and a career just like so many others attempt to do every day. Her brave, fun, and sometimes even cranky personality took the reader on a believable journey.
Another wonderful aspect of the book was its unpredictability. The characters and plot twists were remarkable. Just when you least expect it a new surprise pops out at you.
I do agree with other readers who felt like there were several characters that did not have time to develop. But, it just as in the real world, many people play numerous roles in the life of just one person. It was just one more aspect of the book that felt like Maggie could have been a friend, a sister, or a co-worker.
