I had a high school sweetheart–my first love–who I think back on fondly sometimes…and secretly wonder if he thinks of me, so this book really spoke to me. Keri and Joe were THE high school couple everyone knew about, talked about, envied…but they haven’t been together since Keri left for California after graduation…leaving poor Joe completely wrecked. This is the story of what happens when they reunite, almost 20 years later. Will there still be sparks? Will there be chemistry? Can they be friends? You betcha!!
There is chemistry, sparks, lust, friendship…you name it! They pretty much wanted to jump each other the moment they saw each other again. Of course, this doesn’t happen…there are things to consider, like the fact that they can’t have a relationship past the two weeks they’ll have together. And so the struggle to keep their hands off each other begins. And, oh, how fun it is to read. It isn’t easy for either of them though, especially Keri. She has to come back to her hometown and spend time with the family of the guy whose heart she broke so completely. Would they still hate her? The answer is…no. Well, at least, not all of them still hate her.
The Kowalskis…*sigh* This family felt so real! From the parents to the siblings to the children, I loved all of them. It was especially amusing seeing Terry, Joe’s sister, still holding a grudge against her former best friend, Keri. The things she did to Keri might have been juvenile…but they were funny! The kids were adorable! Anytime Bobby was on the page, my heart melted. And I am so intrigued by single brother Kevin… I must dive into the next book SOON, which is all about him. :D
Another fun part about this book was the setting. Camping in the woods! Though they had RVs and a cabin, it was still fun to read about their outdoor activities and the campfires. I wouldn’t mind camping like that. I’m not a huge fan of sleeping in a tent, but and RV or cabin could be fun.
Straight up, I loved this book. :) I couldn’t put it down. By the end, I had laughed, swooned, and cried. I will be definitely be reading the next book in the series right away! Bring it on, Kowalskis!
