it was amazing
bookshelves: children, absolute-favorites

My second grade teacher read this to my class years ago. The story stuck with me and occasionally I would try to find it in libraries or bookstores, but I could not remember the title or who it was by. I would recount the tale of the princess living alone in a castle with her very old grandmother weaving silk thread for her and the adventure she went on using the silk thread to get home to different clerks and librarians, but none of them could figure out what I was talking about. In high school I told the story of trying to find the book to a friend and she knew exactly what I was talking about. That year, she gave me a copy for Christmas. This book remains one of my favorites. I read it frequently for pleasure, and also to my children. It is a great story, and the fact that the language is grander than they are used to does not seem to bother my munchkins.

If you need more evidence of how much I love this book, I own it in hardback, paperback, ebook, and audiobook. I also have my eye on several other additions that I hope to add to my collection.
