Forgiving the fact that John Green's characters are supernaturally witty and insightful for their ages, this was just splendid. Sparkling with humor and stinging with the pain of loss, a generously honest treatment of the big questions in life through the lens of terminal illness. I believe that Green must have had some firsthand experience or he is just that effective. It was nice to see a feminine point of view from him. After being a bit disappointed by 'Paper Towns' I was thrilled to be newly enamored with this book and these characters. One of my favorite lines:

"I fell in love like you fall asleep: slowly and then all at once."
