really liked it

I think that I read non-fiction with a bit more interest than I read fiction these days. I don't know who to blame. Perhaps it's the rise of reality television; the breaking down of the barrier between fiction and non-fiction, all fictional tricks employed in the new creative non-fiction type stuff that make it as interesting as fiction and more compelling for being true. Along those lines I'd recommend to virtually any person around that they should read Montaigne. He's a delight, perceptive, interesting, occasionally wrong, a reminder that the passage of even five hundred years may have very little to do with what it means to be human.
