A good, solid, utterly-unpretentious sci-fi war novel. It's not perfect (there are some pretty outrageous coincidences, and a few plot-twists I found disappointing) but the prose is clear and enjoyable, the author's voice -- as distinct from the protagonist's voice -- is all but unnoticeable, the overall premise is intriguing, and the whole is well-executed. Just what I needed. I'm definitely going to pick up the next book in the series at some point.

11.0% "So far so good. Intriguing premise, likable protagonist, unobtrusive author..."
41.0% "The "plot-twist" was unfortunately predictable. It's less "Plague of Demons" and more "James Cameron's 'Avatar'". *sigh*"
