The reason I give this book a two is because I thought the characters were so static, it took three hundred pages before I felt interested, and then at the end I felt like there were too many unsolved questions, and that Alender had gotten lazy and just tossed together some ideas for a quick solution to the conflict in the novel. Again, I felt like Carter was just a toy in the story, something to add a bit of ramance to the plot, because what young adult book these days doesn't have romance? I wish Alender would go more in depth with the "paranormal" aspects of the story, too. It wasn't scary at all, I mostly just found it stupid. You know the way you feel after watching Jaws, or Birds? How you can appreciate the effort made by the writers to create a horror story, but other than a few moments of anticipation, you didn't feel much while watching it? That's how I felt at the end of From Bad to Cursed. I laughed to myself, because I thought it was dumb. Perhaps juvenille, even. I feel like it is unfinished. I know there is (at least) one more book in the series, and that can tie up a lot of "loose ends" but, I was just not satisfied with the ending, nor with a majority of the novel.
