I thought this was the weakest book out of the four of them. Connolly did a great job of making Ashley a bitch of an antagonist in Sunfire, it was a little hard to buy her as a heroine, especially as her entire redemption occurred off-screen. I will say that every time I had a 'but why' question, Connolly invariably answered it within a page or two. I think, when it comes down to it, you could pick up this series at any of the four books, but Sunfire is the strongest one as the pacing problems seen in the other books is especially noticeable in Thunderfire. In addition, while the heroines are all different types of characters, the heroes of Pure Wildfire are very similar and there is little to Chris that makes him stand out from the pack.
