I thought I was dreaming when I found this book--Neil Gaiman and Yoshitaka Amano? How on earth did it take me so long to find?
As expected, this is a beautiful tale both visually and story-wise, and does a masterful job of lightly plucking at heartstrings. While the fairytale plot is by no means surprising, it does not detract from the experience of the story, but rather adds an element of foreshadowing that helps give the tale movement. Its subtle joy makes a wonderful filter for the anger and melancholy of loss.
