From what I could tell, a very clearly written, well-researched tale of HeLa cells and where they originally came from--and what happened to the family of Henrietta Lacks after her death. It is, if anything, too well-written and well researched, because really terrible things happen to poor black people in the US, and Skloot finds documentation of far too many of them. Reading this book left me so depressed that I ended up leaving it on my shelf.
