Classic Nicholas Sparks....prior to reading this book, I looked at the reviews and said ehhhh...do I want to spend 10.00 to download this book? That was one of the best 10.00 bills I have spent in a long time. The first 4 or 5 chapters were very irrating this was caused from Amazon's download. Some words were missing, some repeated and some were just not there. I thought to myself if it continues through the rest of the book, I would contact Amazon for a refund but the book did straightened out. Enough about Amazon....This no doubt is my favorite Nicholas Sparks books I have read, yes I have read them all. Being a North Carolinian like Sparks I have yet to meet a woman from here that has not read any of his books. I used to own the complete set but as the years went by and the lending and no return of the books, I no longer have him in my hard copy library.
Ok about the book....I loved the begining, two high school sweethearts finding each other and getting together sharing their love, laughter, hopes and dreams until one rainy night the unthinkable happens and Dawson gets sent to prison for 4 years...loosing his freedom was bad enough but he lost the love of his life. Once he is released, he wanders and does odd jobs until he finally ends up in Louisiana working on a oil rig. (if you are not familure with this type of work....it will age you in just a matter of years) He returns to his home for his month off the rig to find a letter/telegram (can't remember which) telling him that his oldest friend has passed away and he is needed back in NC right away. What he doesn't know is that his high school sweetheart has received the same message. I wont go into more details because this will be a spoiler and you will have to read the book to find out more! Excellent book, I rated 5+ stars! Oh yeah, the person who didn't figure out who the ghost was.....I think it was Tuck's ghost looking after Dawson just as he did when he was a teenager. He helped Dawson along the way to right the wrongs he had done and give the ultimate sacrifice and gift anyone could give. Spend the money on this book, it is well worth the read!
One more thing Happy New Year ya'll may our Lord and God bless you and keep you safe from harm. If you believe and given your heart to him, he will look after you and get you through any situation. Dawson himself knew this because his bible was the last thing he packs on top of every thing in his napsack!

The ghost was Dr. Bonner. It's revealed on page 153. I thought it was Tuck too up until that page. :)
