The autobiography of the founder and owner of Patagonia, Inc., an outdoor clothing and climbing supplies retailer. He talks about the history of the company and the principles by which he runs his business. For example, when the surf is up near his Ventura CA headquarters, the employees get the day off to go out to enjoy the waves. They also get reduced price childcare and food, time off to go on adventure travel and other perks. He gives 1% of his sales to environmental groups to work to protect nature. He works closely with this suppliers to reduce the cost and the environmental impact of the company's operations. The book shows how one can make money in business and operate under ethical principals which help workers and protect the environment.
