** spoiler alert **
An enjoyable novel about how life sometimes gets away from us and we wake up one day and say, “How on earth did I get here?” In her mid-fifties, Rebecca realizes she has become the wrong person, so she looks back and evaluates her decisions. She realizes that she has been “having a wonderful time” in this life of constant parties, that her husband did in fact suffer from depression and commit suicide, and that she still wouldn’t choose to marry her high school sweetheart, who bored her to tears. She did choose the more eventful life, even though it has been filled with life’s typical, grating challenges, like comically selfish children and forgetful old people. I thought she would make radical changes, but she doesn’t.
