My favorite: screenshots + short descriptions. Brainstorm for the win.
Easy to flip through and easy to digest.
Organized by basic design principles (emphasis, contrast, balance, alignment, repetition, flow) and then by site type, styles/themes, structural styles & structural elements.
My one gripe would be a desire to blow up at least one screenshot per section and call out the specific elements that are being demonstrated.
