This book was so much more than I expected. It is a vampire story, with creative constructs related to the vampire mythology, but The Blood that Bonds is the tale of literal and figurative bonds between all the characters, with the vampire blood exchange the basis, but not the entirety, of the bonding.

The characters are well developed and the action takes place not only in the present, but through the use of flashbacks that give a shading to the characters that effectively creates an emotional bond with the reader. What looks to be a traditional vampire romance morphs into a tale of survival that continues beyond the point where I was saying, “OK where can this possibly go now?” and the reader is left wanting more, immediately, so I’m glad I can go right into Blood Hunt. I might have let the cover dissuade me from reading this – I’m here to say, don’t make that mistake.
