Emmy is trying really hard to be a good girl. And she always is, but no one seems to notice...except for her class pet-a rat that seems to have the ability to speak. Her parents are always away, and she is left in the care of a mean nanny, named Mrs. Barmy who seems to want her family's new found fortune. All Emmy wants is for people to notice her, and maybe a few friends. She is so "forgettable", that even her teacher forgets who she is. Enter the adventure and mystery. Emmy finds out about her evil nanny's plans, and with the help of some very smart rodents-she does her best to thwart Mrs. Barmy's plan. There is quite a mixture of different kinds of rodents (with harming and healing powers) from all over the world. Mrs. Barmy is in cahoots with an evil "professor" who has access to all of these amazing rodents, and he uses them to make potions. One such potion makes people invisible and forgettable. This such potion is the one Mrs. Barmy uses on Emmy's parents. Quite a quick moving tale (or should I say "tail"?) I enjoyed it, and would recommend it to young readers (probably 5-6th grade). I also think this is the first in a series, so I am sure there are more Emmy adventures to come!
