I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. This book was based on a true story that took place in Hungary. All the men in the village have gone off to fight in the war, leaving the woman and children to fend fire themselves. Close to the village, a prisoner of war camp has been set up.. The camp is full of Italian prisoners. The women out of boredom seek jobs at the camp and one by one start having affairs with the prisoners. When the war is over, many if the women are being mistreated when their finance and husbands return. They know now that they can survive without their men. They want things to go back to the way they were, so they start killing off their husbands one by one. This book was a great read and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction.
