I love Judith Kerr's writing. It's easy to read with children, but not overly simple, and it has brilliantly original thought and turns of phrase. Such as when Mog was no longer frightened by the Christmas tree: "The tree had stopped walking about and had made itself all pretty."

It is a shame that more are not closer. Whenever I go to Perth to visit my family I always search their local libraries for books/authors I've been after. Maybe on your next trip to 'somewhere else' a catalogue search of the local library and the local teaching college library may yield joy. Happy Hunting!
