I read this book over several months and actually think I should read it through again. I like what he has to say, and he puts it very clearly. Here's a bit from the blurb on the back:

Jesus and his associates arrived as first installment of tomorrow's Transformed World of Transformed People. But 300 years later some Mediterranean intellectuals hijacked these enlivened ways of living into becoming a religion - by turning Jesus from being seen as future living's pioneer (the meaning of 'Christ') into 'the Son of God' who had always existed in heaven.

The author places the New Testament into context, and then looks for ways to take Jesus' message into a meaningful present.
