The main character, horribly disfigured as a child in a fire that also kills her fireman father, gets a second chance with a face transplant. She immediately falls in love and gets pregnant, bringing up all kinds of issues related to whether her new face will be rejected and/or the baby will be born healthy. Very interesting material, unfortunately made less interesting because the main character had such an annoying, unsympathetic personality. I get that the author wanted her to seem a strong woman despite her hard life, but she just came off as someone it would be difficult to be around. I liked the appearances of characters from the Deep End of the Ocean again, though. The ending seemed unrealistic and tacked on.
