I had no idea that the enslavement of white people- mostly german and dutch in the mid 1800's was so prevelant. It wasnt just indentured servatude but often entire lives spent as slaves.

I cant help but wonder if more schools taught a thorough overview of this topic there would be more sympathy for those immigrants currently desperate to be in this country. For the same reason the europeans travelled here.
