David Poyer weaves an intriguing tale of what might have been. About-to-be-retired Lieutenant Junior Grade Jack Kennedy, recently returned from WWII action in the South Pacific, takes a final assignment as a naval aide to President Roosevelt to help protect him from a Russian assassin, who has help from someone on the president's staff. It is an exciting story.
