Maeve Binchy is on my short list of favorite authors. When I read her books, I want to move to Ireland and somehow be among a wonderful community such as is found in Minding Frankie. Sigh… This time she writes of how life should be, despite sorrows and trials, and shows us how the force of even one energetic, well-meaning person can set into motion the means of improving life for many others. Even the least-likable person appears to find some self-understanding. I find the book heartwarming, touching, and thoroughly enjoyable. As it isn’t among my favorite Binchy novels (Firefly Summer, Evening Classes, to name 2), I give 4 instead of 5 stars. And yes, I’ve read all of her books including the short stories. I love Maeve Binchy!
