really liked it
Read from January 17 to April 01, 2012

I enjoyed this book, though it's definitely not Murakami's strongest. Being so long (almost a thousand pages), it goes much slower than his other works, and often I felt that I was given a lot of unnecessary details. In general I think it was less impressive than his other books. I was also turned off by a lot of the sexuality; while the intention was probably to add to my understanding of the characters, to me it just seemed awkward and unrelated.

That being said, from about the halfway point and on, the book turned into somewhat of a page-turner for me. With all its flaws, it was still fun, imaginative, and suspenseful. I feel that I'm going to miss the world of 1Q84.

J I'm about a hundred pages in, and it's good to hear it turns into a page turner. I was afraid it was going to turn into Hard-boiled Wonderland and leave me cold.
