This book is simply fascinating and incredibly sad.

Mistry scribes the lives of four central characters and explains how they arrived to the current point in their life and continues their stories. From these four central characters perspectives Mistry writes about the travesties that occurred in India including forced sterilisations, unfair evictions, caste violence and extreme poverty. I did not know anything about this time in India's history and was saddened by these people's lives.

An amazing book that is full of tragedy and the human spirit to survive no matter what life throws at you.
