it was ok

Again, sort of a disappointing volume of the Drizzt books. Lots of action, tons of violence, but not a whole lot of plot. There's some interesting ideas about a person reverting back to their darker nature in the aftermath of tragedy, but not a whole lot of well-developed ideas like the Dark Elf Trilogy presented. The sequence of events was extremely simple, though convoluted by subplots that didn't really make a whole lot of sense some time. I found myself dozing off and skimming during the long action sequences and combat chapters. Salvatore seems to be kitting his two masterpiece trilogies together here, and it's only going OK. There's a LOT of hinting about Catti-brie and Drizzt hooking up, foreshadowing such a plot development in each chapter, but Salvatore has left romance noticeably absent from his novels. Halfway through The Legacy of the Drow, it really seems that it can only get better from here. I sincerely hope it does.
