I have a soft spot for old-school science fiction, so of course, I enjoyed this immensely. Yes, the hero is the archetypal testosterone-driven, manliest manly fellow, but you kind of have to think about when this was written - way before women's rights and equality and all of that. I'm not excusing those flaws, but well, just think about it. This book paved the way for a lot of the contemporary science fiction novels that we love today, and Burrough's Mars is incredibly real and fleshed out. Looking forward to reading more of them.
