** spoiler alert ** I won this book as a Goodreads First Read. Initially I was going to give this book only one star. For the first 2/3 of the book I found the poor writing to be distracting and made the story seem as though it just dragged on and on. The writing is just clunky. There are sentences, and even whole paragraphs, that sinply don't seem to fit; as though the author wanted to tell the reader something but was unsure how to smoothly and subtly get acroos. The dialog is almost painful to read. It seems forced and unnatural and the characters relay the same information over and over in conversation; instead of W and X having a conversation about Z and then saying X told Y about Z, X will just have the same conversation over again. Mundane events are explained in much more detail than they warrent and simple details are just wrong. Texting is a good example of the author talking about normal events and getting the details wrong. Texting is featured in several chapters and when the characters are finished talking they either "disconnect the line" or "sign off," which, if you've never texted before may seem like it makes sense... These may seem like nit-picky things to dislike a book for, but, like I said, I found them to be very distracting.
The only saving grace for theis novel came near the end when the story picked up enough for me to stop noticing the amateurish writing. The end was fast-paced and fun which raised my opinion just a litte bit.
