** spoiler alert ** For the most part, this book was enjoyable. Faulks definitely captured FLeming's writing style and all of Bond's characteristics from the early novels. I particularly enjoyed all the references to Bond's other adventures from the first set of books.

However, the last 50 pages of the book were incredibly disappointing. After Bond survived the suicide plane (which was very well written), the rest of the book is rather blase. It has two one-page fight scenes with the primary villain and his main henchman, which in my opinion should have been dragged out a bit more. The other 48 pages or so are Bond and Scarlett trying to escape Russia, which was rather uneventful. It almost seems as if Faulks just phoned it in to meet a production deadline or page quota.

This book really had my interest up until the last few chapters. Had the ending been more exciting, this could have been 5 stars.
