This is another masterful fantasy story from Salvatore, and Drizzt continues to be the reason to read books by this man. Though he took more of a shared lead in this story with Bruenor, Wulfgar, and Regis, he remains the driving force in the plot. The blend of savage vengeance and good-hearted principles makes him one of the most wonderfully conflicted, ironic, and easily-identified characters in any book I’ve ever read. The story was good, and again Salvatore blends in all of the plot threads meaningfully and excellently to keep the novel interesting. My favorite part of the story was Drizzt’s training of Wulfgar after the latter recieves the hammer from Bruenor. The ending was outstanding, and again the trilogy takes a strong head of steam into the second entry of the series.
