Pamela Aidan This is the second time around reading Walking Across Egypt and I appreciated it even more! For those not quite conversant with Southern ways and mores, pay attention to the role of food in Edgerton's story and the importance of Miss Mattie's discovery of her role in "doing it unto the least of these...and you have done it to me" from the Bible. There's so much to think about in this deceptively simple story: generational differences, old South vs new South... i could go on and on. Read it and talk about it--especially with someone who grew up there!
