coming of age story in a sun valley nevada trailer park, told through voice of young rory dawn hendrix. interesting in both the young woman's (and little girl and seemingly mature academic at times) voice and her take on poverty and class in reno and usa. add to this, unspeakable child abuse (but she does speak it, so beware), feeble mindedness, good ole reno (my home town!), evil teachers, kindly librarians (the only kind?), boy crushes, drunken mothers, and you get a picture both bleak and rosy pink nevada sunrise.
