Every time I think Margo Lanagan can't get any better, she proves me wrong. Glorious, glorious, glorious in every way. The use of language - the fluid effortless laying down of time and place and history - the characterization - the sense of total reality in an absolute fantasy. Gah. Words fail me. What are you doing listening to me ponce on when you could be reading the book??

Victoria (Eve's Alexandria) This is definitely high up on my TBR list. I read the first few pages of a friend's copy and then badgered them into lending it to me. :-)

Celine I'm planning starting it on Thurs (have to get the treatment for the WiP done first) I'm a big fan of Margo's work so I can't wait! (have you read her work? I especially recommend her short story collection Black Juice. Red Nose Day and (I think it's called) The Wooden Bride are extraordinary stories which often pop to my mind unbidden long after my having read them.
